All Genesis Farmers' beef comes from
Jim Sturmey at Pound Farm on the ridgeway road between Dorchester and Sherborne. Bookham Farm rises off the south west corner of the Blackmore Vale. Andy Foot grows wheat, maize and pasture for his single-suckled cattle and pedigree Dorset Horn sheep. He also manages ponds, permanent and wet grasslands, woodlands, hedges, boxes for owls, kestrels and other native birds. For more on Bookham Farm, go to www.bookhamcourt.co.uk At Pound Farm, Jim Sturmey is a producer of high quality meat. He runs a herd of Angus cross Charolais single-suckled cattle, all born, reared and finished at Pound Farm and fed from his own arable land. He also contract farms around 600 acres of arable land. About 20% of his own land is classed as 'environmentally sensitive' - mainly woodland and chalk downland. This is an area where habitats and species, for example the Marsh Fritillary butterfly, are protected. Genesis Farmers uses only local abattoirs. From the abattoir, beef carcasses come back to our cutting room in Buckland Newton (Dorset) and are matured in our own chiller room, at a constant temperature, for 21 days. Our beef goes from the cutting room in Buckland Newton, direct to local Dorset customers. By the time it is delivered, we can genuinely say that it has only travelled only 20 or 30 miles from our field to your plate, not the hundreds or thousands of miles associated with modern food supply chains. We concentrate on freshness and quality. We do our own regular tastings to ensure that flavour, texture, tenderness, succulence and appearance (pre and post cooking) are right. We also make our own beefburgers from our own fresh minced beef, with salt, pepper and herb - and with fresh onion if you would like it. We use no additives or preservatives. Try our spiced and salted beef too! To order For a price list and/or home delivery in Dorset: 01300 345388 or email |
